Home Life

It's hard to believe that we've been home for one week and that he's actually alive and thriving. I have never been able to keep a plant alive for a week, let alone a human being, so it's quite an accomplishment we are all doing well!
Life was pretty rough on Carson the first few days but he seems to be acclimating well. Our week has consisted of sleepless nights, poopy diapers, peeing through atleast 2 outfits per day (he's got a real hose on him!!), and lots and lots of kisses from mom and dad. Despite the hardships, which I think are very normal for first time parents, he is such a sweet baby and we will definitely keep him.
We are so grateful to be his parents and love seeing him change every day. Here's to another week!

He found his fingers...

Tummy time-he's not a fan!

My D-Day, His B-Day

8.5 days later...today is the day I get induced. We go in this afternoon/evening and should have him here safe and sound by this time tomorrow.
I feel like I have waited forever to meet our little guy and now that it's REALLY here, all the waiting seems like a blink of an eye.

We don't have a laptop so it will take a little longer to get pictures up, but we'll do our best to show off our new addition as soon as we can!

Thanks for all of your well wishes!

Don't be fooled...

By my baby counter on the side.

I will let you all know when he decides to make his arrival.

I already think he's the smartest kid ever because he's just waiting for the bitter cold to pass. Our high tomorrow is -2 with windchills estimated at -40. BRRR!

Joel just thinks he's stubborn...like his mom!

Either way, we can't wait to meet him!

Some People

Some people think the early bird gets the worm. I, on the other hand, think that slow and steady wins the race.

Angelica(SIL) was due Nov 18 and had Weston Nov 3.
Karen was due Jan 12 and had Summer Jan 2.
Heather(SIL) was due Jan 20 and had Hudson Jan 9.
What's the rush ladies? I mean, who doesn't want to be completely uncomfortable for as long as possible? ;)

I am due Jan 12 and don't think I'll have him 'til the end of this week...
I think I win!

New Favorite

I have never been a fan of Crocs. People have raved and raved about them for the past few years, but I never bought in. I would hear, "They just slip right on" or "they are just so comfortable" but to me, they were just so "blaahh".

Yesterday Joel called me around 11:30 to see if I wanted to go to lunch with him and then if we could hit up REI's (his other wife) big January sale. I thought, sure. One last hot date before the kid comes, why not?

I was so not in the mood to shop, but knew he was LOVING IT! I was looking for the closest bench the whole time to rest my sore back while he was enthralled in nylon pants. I moseyed on over to the women's section to look at {highly overpriced} workout apparel to no avail. Joel found me and suggested we look at slippers (I have been wanting new ones FOREVER). We looked at every kind but they were out of my size. Ready to head out the door, we passed by some Crocs-fur lined, mind you- and I grabbed a pair and slipped them on.

"AHHHHHHHHHH(like angels singing in heaven)," these were them! The perfect slippers!!
I exclaimed to Joel and he replied, "I never knew you liked Crocs."
I never did like them, but they fit my {swollen} feet like butter on bread. Sheer perfection.

I am converted to fur-lined Crocs.

Home

When Joel and I first moved to Milwaukee I vowed to NEVER have kids while we lived here because I didn't want them to have to say they were from Wisconsin- lame, but true! Here we are 4.5 years later, about to have our first child, and I am happy to say that my thoughts have changed.

For now, Milwaukee is our home. We have great friends, good jobs, and a warm little pad. We are blessed. Although I miss being near family and old friends, we have accomplished so much together in our short(relatively) time here. We have had to learn to rely on each other for everything and that alone has strengthened our relationship tenfold. I wouldn't change the experiences we have had or the people we have met for anything.

Milwaukee ain't that bad after all, don'cha know?

**Update at Dr appt yesterday: a big fat NOTHING!! I did not progress a.t. a.l.l! This little guy is too cozy warm in there!**

GRRR

For two reasons:
1. One o'clock church.
2. I haven't had the babe yet. Its not even my due date, so I should not complain. He's already testing my patience , so I better get used to it and realize I must need the lesson! :)

BUT...

I am extra grateful for good friends and their generosity. I had a girlfriend baby shower yesterday and it was great! Thanks to everyone!!
